Who is Uncle Spike?

Uncle Spike, a 5-piece hailing from Stellenbosch, all met each other in a well-known male dormitory of the town’s university campus, Wilgenhof. Their genre? Anglo-Boer Sensationalism. Yeah, you read that right. Their debut album, called “I in the sky” bridges genre-spectrums and delivers a blend of jazz, reggae, punk and rock with vocals in more than one language to boot.

The band has done well for themselves and their music can be found on Soundcloud, Youtube, Apple music, Spotify and Deezer, to name a few. They have released two music videos, “Zaan kultuur” and “Erection song” as well.

Not only do they make nice music, but they are a bunch of nice guys as well. More than once have they done shows for charity – raising money towards goals such as “Ikaya Primary's library and Reading Club” and “providing sanitary pads to the girls of Nomzamo High School”.
