Hay look ma, they made it!

In Stellenbosch we take pride in our success, especially in the band Spoegwolf. The band consists of Danie du Toit (vocalist and guitarist), Chris von Wielligh (guitarist and pianist), Moskou du Toit (Drummer and vocalist) and Albert van der Merwe (bassist, vocalist and rapper). This Afrikaans band started way back in February 2012 with only one purpose to make great music, and this they did!

In the process they found their band as the face of Alternative Afrikaans music. They are the first Afrikaans band to reach the top on Apple Music. Their albums are: ‘Swaartekrag’ (2012), ‘Somer’ (2015), ‘Die donker toring’ (2017) and ‘Koma’ (2019).

Fun facts: they had to decide between three names; ‘Spoegwolf’, ‘Kosblik’ or ‘Wolf en die swart honde’. Danie du Toit brews beer in his closets, Chris von Wielligh likes to build boats and Moskou du Toit is a famous chef in Paarl. Albert van der Merwe likes to make shoes and look after his garden.
